The Quilt

My granny makes quilts for all of her grandchildren when they graduate from high school. I can't believe I haven't thought about taking pictures and showing off this beautiful quilt she made for me almost 9 years ago.

Instead of having a pattern to it, she decided use bonnets and portray the different aspects of my life. There is the church, which is the center of my world, and my heart. Throughout the whole quilt, there is a scene representing when I raised a pig and a heifer, my first car, cooking, taking care of kids, reading, graduating... it is amazing at how accurate she got in all of the things that are important to me. This is something that I will always treasure and will soon put up and not use as much in order to save it so that my children will be able to see it.

One other important part of this quilt: My grandfather "Bappaw", helped her quilt this. My Aunt Laura, one of my favorite aunts, also helped to quilt. As I continue to step through the different stages of life, I love to sit and wrap this quilt around me, and think about all of the wonderful memories that are woven into it.

I was, and still am, in awe in how much love, sweat, and time went into this project..and she did it all to see me smile! I am truly blessed.
